Good Discontentment

GOOD DISCONTENTMENT

And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.—1 Samuel 22:2
God has anointed David as king. However, Saul is still on the throne. And because Saul wants to hold onto that which is no longer his, and tries to kill David, David has become a fugitive.
Those who gathered with David were a ragtag band of misfits—unlikely candidates to be David’s mighty men. Yet God raised them up and used them with David to establish the kingdom of Israel.
There is an interesting parallel here. God has ordained His Son, Jesus Christ, to reign as King over the earth; however, Satan is still on the throne. And Satan is doing his best to hold onto the kingdom. Jesus is gathering together men unto Himself—unlikely candidates, to be sure—but men through whom He plans to establish His kingdom and bring to pass His reign over the earth.   (Will you be in this band of brothers in the service for the true King?)
*God is looking for men and women with open, willing hearts,  those who would say, “Here I am, Lord. I am not content  with my life the way it is,  Lord. I want to give it all to You.”
When discontentment brings you to a total commitment to Jesus Christ, that’s good discontentment because it leads to progress.

Father, we thank You that You gather unto Yourself those of Your choosing.  Mold and shape us into those mighty sons & daughters You want us to be that we might one day reign with You in the glory of Your kingdom. Allow us the privilege of serving You now… In Jesus’ name, amen.
PS Step 1. Receive Jesus as Lord & Savior
Step 2. Engage in Discipleship. Grow in your faith!
Step 3. Look for ways you CAN serve not for ways you can’t.
Step 4. The Great Commission is a battlefield commission. Help others find Jesus     and train them to become effective.
Step 5.  Stand with confidence before the Lord and receive the rewards from your      spiritual labor at the Bema Seat judgement of Christ (for believers).
